ACTION ALERT
TU Member ,
It's not too late, you can still help us save the Roan Plateau. The vote on
the FY 2008 Interior, Environment and Related Agencies Appropriations bill
has been postponed until later this week.

Your support of this amendment is just a click away with our easy to use
online action center. Please follow this link and contact your
Representative; tell them to support the floor amendment that
protects the Roan Plateau from oil and gas
drilling.<http://www.kintera.org/TR.asp?a=klL3LfMSLjK0LnI&s=nmL4LoO5JlKTKaN7F&m=kiLSL0OJJeKYG&af=y>

*WHY WE CARE
*The Roan Plateau, located in NW Colorado, is home to native trout, world
class deer and elk hunting and backcountry fly fishing. It is also slated
for oil and gas drilling.

It should be noted that the Roan Plateau comprises a very small area by
comparison to the rest of the public and private lands being opened in the
region for energy development and that 85% of the gas beneath the Roan
Plateau can be reached by directional drilling from around the base with no
need to drill from the top. There is simply no need to sacrifice sensitive
habitats in order to secure energy resources.

The only way to keep well pads, roads, heavy machinery, pipelines, waste
pits and an industrialized landscape off of the Roan Plateau is to have
Congress pass a funding limitation that would create a one year time out on
leasing these lands so that a plan can be developed that protects the fish,
wildlife and hunting and angling values that the Roan Plateau is cherished
for.

WHAT YOU CAN DO
This funding limitation consideration has been postponed by the full House
of Representatives. Please contact your Representative today and tell them
to support the floor amendment to the FY 2008 Interior, Environment and
Related Agencies Appropriations
bill.<http://www.kintera.org/TR.asp?a=doJPIUNqFcJNJ3K&s=nmL4LoO5JlKTKaN7F&m=kiLSL0OJJeKYG&af=y>
