Santa Fe National Forest Volunteer Work Weekends

Meeting and Camping places will be at Fenton Hill for both weekends.  There is
plenty of space for setting up tents and RVs.  We will have non-potable water
and a running toilet.  The Forest Service will provide two 5-gallon jugs of
water a day.  Please bring plenty of drinking water, other beverages, food,
warm clothes, sunscreen, work gloves, and leather boots.  Don’t forget your
rod!  A Map is attached, you also need to sign a waiver form.

April 23th and 24th

·	Saturday we will be meeting at 10am at Fenton Hill and constructing bucks to
be used in fence construction.
·	Sunday we will start when ever folks can get rollin (9am) and will be
constructing bucks again.  If all bucks get constructed we will work on fence
improvements and fence construction.

All work on this weekend will start at Fenton Hill.  If buck construction is
completed on Saturday, work on Sunday may involve improvements on a fence and
fence construction.  Late arrivals should check the Fenton Hill work site, if
no one is present head to Forest Road 376 construction site. Take the Forest
Road 376 (from HWY 126 go about 7 miles) to the SW towards Porter Landing.  We
will be constructing fence in-between the FR 376 and the Rio Cebolla.  If you
get to the Rio de las Vacas (Porter Landing) you went to far.  Can’t miss it.

May 7th and 8th 

·	Saturday we will meet at 9am at Fenton Hill and will be constructing the
fence along the Rio Cebolla.
·	Sunday we will meet again at 9am at Fenton Hill and will be constructing the
fence along the river again.

Work will start at 9am on both days at Fenton Hill.  We will start by loading
materials and will leave Fenton Hill by 9:30 to construct fence between the
Forest Road 376 and the Rio Cebolla.  If you can’t get up to Fenton Hill
before we leave for fence construction at 9:30 take the Forest Road 376 (from
HWY 126 go about 7 miles) to the SW towards Porter Landing.  We will be
constructing fence in-between the FR 376 and the Rio Cebolla.  If you get to
the Rio de las Vacas (Porter Landing) you went to far.  Can’t miss it.

Driving directions from Albuquerque:
·	Take I-25 out of Albuquerque north to exit 242
·	Take a left or head north on 550 towards Cuba
·	After about 20 miles of driving north on HWY 550 you get to San Ysidro. 
Take a right on HWY 4 to Jemez Springs
·	Drive through Jemez Springs (don’t speed!).  About 8 miles past Jemez
Springs you will take a left on HWY 126 at La Cueva.  
·	Follow HWY 126 for about 5 miles.  The first Forest Road (approx. 4.5 miles
from hwy 4) that you will come to is 376.   About a half mile past FR 376 you
will need to take a left on Hot Rocks Hill road.  This is the only road on the
left past FR 376.
·	Follow Hot Rocks Hill road for about a half mile until you see some
trailers.  We will meet just past the trailers.  This is Fenton Hill 
	

Directions From Santa Fe
1. Going the southern way via I-25.
·	Take I-25 south to exit 242 and take HWY 550 north (right).
·	Follow the instructions above from ABQ.

2.  Going the northern route through Los Alamos.
·	Take HWY 285/84 north out of Santa Fe.
·	Take HWY 502 west out of Pojoaque and follow the signs for Los Alamos.  Los
Alamos is about 18 miles.
·	Take 502 all the way through Los Alamos to HWY 501.  
·	Travel about 4 miles on 501 until you come to a T intersection.  Take a
right on HWY 4 toward Jemez Springs.
·	Follow HWY 4 until you reach La Cueva and the HWY 126 junction.  Take a
right on 126.
·	Follow HWY 126 for about 5 miles.  The first Forest Road (approx. 4.5 miles
from hwy 4) that you will come to is 376.   About a half mile past FR 376 you
will need to take a left on Hot Rocks Hill road.  This is the only road on the
left past FR 376.
·	Follow Hot Rocks Hill road for about a half mile until you see some
trailers.  We will meet just past the trailers.  This is Fenton Hill

If coming from Abq:

Walatowa Center on the Jemez Pueblo- Gas and convenience.

Jemez Springs – Multiple restaurants, NO Gas 

If coming from Santa Fe:
