Hi again.  I forgot to add my suggestion—-Philippa Gregory’s Fairmile Series....Tidelands, and the new one, Dark Tides, which is set in the late 1600’s in London, Venice and Western Mass.
Happy reading, everyone.❤️

Greetings!  I am so enjoying the comments and Betsy’s sister’s song!
I did not keep track of the person who made each suggestion, but here we go—-please note that I need help with the last one:
The Daughters of Yalta by Catherine Katz
The Vanishing Half, and The Mothers by Britt Bennett
Caste: The Origins of Our Discontent by Isabel Wilkerson
These Truths: A History of the United States  by Jill Lepore
Wisdom of Wild Grace: Poems by Christine Valters Paintner
The Snow Child by Eowyn Ivey
Braiding Sweetgrass:Indigenous Wisdom by Robin Wall
Last Tango in Halifax, Prime Video Series
The Glass Castle: a Memoir by Jeannette Walls
Educated: a Memoir by Tara Westover
Miss Benson’s Beetle by Rachel Joyce
Lincoln on the Verge: Thirteen Days to Washington by Ted Widmer
Between the World and Me by Ta-Nehisi Coates. I also really liked The Water Dancer
Makers and Takers: The Rise of Finance and the Fall of American Business by Rana Foroohar
Heather Cox Richardson—daily newsletter and blog
Chief Inspector Gamache Mystery Series by Louise Penny
How to be an Antiracist by Ibram X. Kendi
A Mistress of the Art of Death Series by Ariana Franklin
Paradise Hotel ????  I wrote “KKK in Oregon” next to it...thought it was a book...could not find it.  Could whoever mentioned it please clarify.  Thanks!
So, now Jane is going to send out the Survey Monkey for us to fill in.  Maybe it will bring us to other topics to discuss in late March or April.
Loved seeing everyone yesterday....especially those we had not seen for while.  Love, Bonnie

Everyone, It was wonderful to see your faces again yesterday and hear snippets of your stories. Imagine how much worse this pandemic’s effects would be without Zoom, facetime etc? Talk about isolation!
More books I highly recommend for any of us wishing to delve further into our whiteness and it’s privileges:
Waking up White by Debby Irving
White Fragility
Me and White Supremacy…this is for anyone wanting to dig a little deeper into our own private version of racism.
I have also just joined our local NAACP-I haven’t been to a meeting yet but am looking forward to it.
See you next time and be well,
No more Falling Lelly!

Betsy -   This is a lovely piece your sister wrote and produced.   My ear hears the similarity in your voice and hers, though I know you were not part of it.   Remarkable how family voices can be like that.
I was delighted to hear from each on the class visit yesterday.   The orderliness gave us each our time of speaking and listening and I learned much.  I so appreciate the book and movie recommendations as well as the news of all.
When a gathering is of familiars and for the purpose of socializing, I MUST learn to mute myself on Zoom meetings where a host doesn't control the mute (which is how church on Zoom is managed for service; then we're let loose into Breakout rooms).   I get so excited to see and chat with others, I'm back to my elementary school challenge of "speaking out of turn."    (I was just as inclined to be in trouble for not "staying in my seat" in grade school ...).
Hang tight, dear friends.    As Maine singer songwriter, Gordon Bok, shares through his soothing bass and 12-string guitar:  "The world is always turning toward the morning."
love to all,    Judy P

What a wonderful gift we have been given by COVID- it has made us so much more connected. I agree that our zooming makes us want to visit more with each classmate. Thanx so much to Bonnie and Rena for making this work. Wonderful sharing with you all. Betsy- that was a lovely song by your sister.Everyone stay safe- vaccine or no vaccine - still keep a moose length apart from others, continue to wear masks and wash, wash, wash hands. Hope we all will get through this pandemic safelyand see each other soon.  Lots of love to all- Judy

Thank you Betsy for sharing your sister's song. It is lovely.
It was great seeing so many of you today. I enjoyed listening to each one of you talk about what and how you are doing.(Lelly, please don't fall again!! Yikes...scarey!) I always come away from zoom chats a bit unsettled and dissatisfied.I feel like I just want to sit one on one with each of you and really catch up. On the other hand, without covid we wouldn'teven be having this much communication ... so, I am grateful.
I look forward to Bonnie's list of the books everyone mentioned. And thank you, Bonnie, for organizing the zoom session. And thanks, Reena, for taking over.
I find "us" to be such an interesting group ... such a variety of characters (colors) ... like a beautiful garden. I like our garden.Looking forward to next time.

Hi all,
It was so nice “seeing” you all this afternoon!  Thanks again for setting it up, Bonnie.
Here is the song that my sister Peggy wrote for her Threshold Choir.  Sandy, you can access both song and sheet music on the Threshold website.  The singing isn’t perfect, because she’s performing all the parts herself on Garage Band, but it gives you an idea of the sort of music she (and Sandy) are doing.  It’s such a worthwhile cause, and I know they all miss performing now that the pandemic has closed everything down.
Stay safe, ladies!
Love,Betsy

Here’s my final version of the song after tweaking some of the harmonies.
