[Oxford63] Santa Rosa fires

Dear Nancy ... the images are devastating... so much loss. I just can't
imagine being in the midst of those flames.... terrifying. I am so glad
that you and George are safe, and am so sorry that you have lost your
haven, your home.
My daughter lives at the top of Howell Mountain in Napa Valley, and the
winery she works for is at the base of the mountain. Her car is packed and
ready to go. Except for a gorgeous property that the winery owned in Soda
Canyon, which burned to the ground, they are ok. I call her daily to check
in. She, having had the opportunity a few years ago to taste smoke tainted
wine, which she said was terrible, speculates that the 2017 Napa cabernet,
which is just now being harvested, vintage will not be good... a huge blow
to the industry. We shall see.
Everyone is pulling together in whatever way they can.
